    Description

    Vintage fold-out 1949 Atlantic road map of New England, printed more than 70 years ago.
    The map opens to 21" x 27" and has great detail on old highway alignments and route numbers, with cartography by Rand McNally.
    Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island are on one side, with an inset of Boston and vicinity. The coverage area also includes Long Island.
    The map was distributed by the Atlantic Refining Company in 1949 and is dated in the legend (6-49). The code number in the lower margin is 9-423413-8.
    Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine are on the other side, with inset plans of Hartford, Providence, Worcester, and downtown Boston.
    The artwork on the back cover shows an Atlantic Hi-Arc gas pump, with an inset of a can of motor oil.
