    Description

This is a rare Collectible National Airlines pendant.   I have seen a few smaller 10k gold pins but this is a larger pendant and it is 14k.   It measures  26.50mm by 22.75mm.   It is 14k gold with a silver top and enamel.   The airplane sits on top of the enamel plaque that says National Airlines.   For more info about National Airlines, see below.     The pendant weighs 5.6 grams.   It has a pretty filigree design  that circles the outside of the pendant.
This came from a prominent Seattle estate.   I believe rare collectible item is 1960s - 70s era. It is in very nice condition.
    National Airlines
    was a
    United States
airline that operated from 1934 to 1980.
    [2]
For most of its existence the company was headquartered at
    Miami International Airport
    , Florida.
    [3]
At its height, National Airlines had a network of "Coast-to-Coast-to-Coast" flights, linking Florida and the
    Gulf Coast
    with cities along the
    East Coast
and large cities on the West Coast.
    [4]
    From 1970 to 1978, National,
    Pan American World Airways
    (Pan Am) and
    Trans World Airlines
(TWA) were the only U.S. airlines that operated scheduled passenger flights to Europe.  Attempting to quickly create a domestic system, Pan Am acquired Miami-based National Airlines in 1980. After selling most of its international routes to raise operating funds, Pan Am ended in bankruptcy in December, 1991.
    On January 6, 1960, the
    Douglas DC-6
serving the flight exploded in midair. The
    National Airlines
aircraft was carrying 5 crew members and 29 passengers, all of whom perished. The
    Civil Aeronautics Board
investigation concluded that the plane was brought down by a
    bomb
    made of
    dynamite
. No criminal charges were ever filed, nor was the blame for the bombing ever determined, though a suicide bombing is suspected. The investigation remains open today.
